Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Food Service worker position performs a variety of cleaning, maintenance, food preparation, stocking, and serving duties in a commercial kitchen, storeroom, dining, or serving area. (FT)(PT)(OC)or (Temp) positions maybe avialable.

(Ideal applicant will live in the Juneau, AK area.)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Washes objects by hand or with cleaning equipment.
  • Cleans dishes, utensils, pots, pans etc. and places in assigned storage areas in a an organized and orderly manner.
  • Maintains a variety of products at certain levels in preparation, serving, or storage areas including service machines.
  • Stocks storage areas with various products.
  • Cleans, sweeps, wipes down, etc. all general dining, kitchen, or storage areas (in some cases), spike rooms, and equipment as well as all floors.
  • Removes garbage from assigned areas, sets up or breaks down tables, snack bars, display cases, serving lines, etc.
  • Assists with various periodically scheduled large cleaning projects.
  • Assists cooks and others as needed and coordinates one’s own activities with other’s.
  • May occasionally prepare food or cook vegetables, entrees, coffee, sauces, meats, etc.
  • Other related duties may also be assigned.
  • May also be referred to as a Night or Day Food Service worker.
  • May also be combined with other position duties such as a Sandwich Maker or Pantry.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
  • The Food Service Worker position requires a willingness to learn the position and to apply that knowledge as it relates to the position. Preference will be given to those applicants that have prior food service and/or utility experience.

    Background position ranking skill levels:
  • Language skills sufficient to: 1. Read a limited number of 2 to 3 syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words or a series of numbers. 2. Effectively communicate with other employees.
  • Math skills sufficient to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide including using these operations with weight measurement, or volume.
  • Reasoning abilities sufficient to: 1. Apply common sense understanding to carry out simple 1 or 2 step instructions with only occasional or no variables. 2. Work effectively with other employees and supervisors.

    Physical Demands: The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 35 pounds. Specific close vision is required. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold non weather and to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must have the physical stamina to stand, wash hundreds of items at a time.
